Burrows captured all the essential elements of the story, including the all-important but often forgotten beginning, when everyone is in good spirits.

The context in which you see a photograph will affect how you respond to it—which is the whole point of this section of the book. There is some mystery in this, but it doesn’t have to be resolved in order to enjoy the result. In fact, photographs acquire a different personality when printed and viewed, even more so when larger than, shall we say, “hand”-sized. Many things are involved in this, including the materiality, or physical presence of the print as object. The size, too, has a significant effect, beginning with the simple response that size equates to worth—at least for any class of object that can vary from small to large.
