Cold systems use an adhesive-coated Ālm, whereas hot s ystems apply a t hermoplastic Ālm that bonds w ith t he coating layer of t he coil (at high temperatures) to p roduce t he desired protection (see Chapters 4 a nd 7). On t he other hand, t his bond should a llow removability after the coil is processed. Lamination of coils has been used as a coating method for many years. Thus, PVC offers the best cuttability and printability compared with PP and PET. PP has good density, temperature stability, and price; and PET is the most rigid and transparent Ālm material.
